Durrant Consulting specialises in investigating and resolving defects in buildings affecting the external envelope and internal finishings and was set up in 1984 by Derek Durrant to provide unbiased opinion and comment on defects, disputes and technical appraisal of elements of the building envelope.
As a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and the Institute of Asphalt Technology, he has wide experience with mastic asphalt and its use on roofs, tanking, flooring, car park decks, waterproofing systems and administration of remedial contracts in roofing and facades. He is on the list of Consultants for the Mastic Asphalt Council.
With Derick’s retirement in 2016 the business continues under the ownership of Mark Sulik, who has 35 years’ experience as a specialist roofing and waterproofing contractor, having worked continuously for one contractor during his 33 years of service undertaking major roofing and Mastic Asphalt contracts for main contractors, building surveyors and private clients.
Mark is a fellow of the Institute of Roofing FIoR, a past Director of the Flat Roofing Alliance which was integrated into what is nown known as The National Federation of Roofing Contractors and a member of the Institute of Asphalt Technology MIAT. As a member of the Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association MCRMA as an Independent Inspector for metal roofing and cladding systems. He is an active member of the British Parking Association (BPA) Asset Management special interest group looking at issues in relation to Multi Story Car Parks and design issues and failure of the surface waterproofing.
